Dear Citizen Scientist,

The Weather Detective project is now closed.

The scientific team behind the project have been incredibly impressed with the work done. The information recovered will allow scientists to reconstruct weather patterns and identify changes in the Earth’s climate over time.

“A significant use, and one of the reasons the project was started – is to verify seasonal forecast models which are used by farmers and primary producers for crop production, ” says Weather Detective researcher Christa Pudmenzky, from the University of Southern Queensland.

The research could also help scientists understand climatic phenomena such as El Niño, heatwaves, floods and droughts.

On behalf of the whole Weather Detective team we would like to thank you for your support.
